In my time as a wedding photographer, I’ve caught a few people in the act… whatever act that may be. Sneaky activities definitely qualify as super candid moments, and I’m here to share a few of them!

First, this adorable ring bearer is playing hide and seek. Little does he know that the person he’s seeking is right there! Sneaky!

This one is of a make out room at a really fun wedding. Actually, I asked these guys to make out right there, so I guess I’m the one being sneaky. Shhh!! I love this shot, so I had to share it anyway. 🙂

Finally, you need to know the story behind this one, because the photo doesn’t make it obvious. This guy was totally peeing behind the bushes during the bride and groom portraits! So funny! I had to at least get a shot of him trying to sneak back out of the bushes.

Have you photographed any super candid moments? Share them with me! I’d love to see what you’ve caught!

I had just finished the post-wedding shoot with Jenn and Sally at their chosen location on Orcas Island, and we were getting back into the car to head back to the reception. I decided to peak into the backseat as Jenn helped Sally into the car, before putting my camera away. That choice allowed me to catch this sweet,  intimate moment between the two, followed by a kiss. Totally unplanned, totally candid, and totally super!

I try to capture a lot of candid moments when I am photographing a client. It’s what I do best.  These candids are often a big part of telling a unique story of someone through their photos. However, there are often other smaller stories happening that make up that bigger story. I try to keep an eye out for these fleeting candid moments. Sometimes I am stealthy and catch people unawares and sometimes people catch me. Other times I am simply prepared by being in the right place at the right time and people will suddenly take advantage of the opportunity.

These smaller moments rarely make it to my blog or portfolio, but they are always shared with my clients. Each week I will finally be able to highlight these comical, precious, awkward, random, or somehow noteworthy candids that so often fall by the wayside of the bigger picture. I will call these “super candids”, because they are just a little over the top!

While many of these will be comical, please be aware that my intentions are not to make fun of anyone. Most of these photos are stuck fondly in my memory as all time favorites due to their unique, candid quality.

Let’s start with a couple, shall we?

Kids are ideal subjects for super candids, because they are either too cute for words, getting into something, and/or aren’t paying attention to that photographer over there. This little girl was no exception. She happened to be in two of my favorite candids from this Puyallup, WA wedding.

In this first one, she had been caught just after sticking her finger in the wedding cake before it had been served. I wish I had better timing on that one, but just knowing the story behind it cracks me up.

In this one, she is a little more innocent. This is just a moment that is too sweet for words. You ladies know what I’m talking about!

Check back next week for the next super candids!

Thanks to an invitation over at Little Borrowed Dress to participate in Wedding Party Wednesday, I’m delighted to share a little beach inspiration with you to kick off the first theme of this link up party! Everyone knows I love a good theme! 🙂

Even though the Seattle area doesn’t offer up the kind of sandy beaches you might be dreaming of, this Seattle photographer has plenty of beach inspiration to go around! From Seattle’s Discovery Park to a beach front wedding at Da Pink House in Hawaii, I’ve got photos that will get you ready for the summer ahead, even if you still haven’t had the opportunity to put on shorts yet!
