I’m very happy to be a part of the University of Washington Botanic Gardens (UWBG) vendor showcase event! The event takes place on July 21st from 3-7pm, so save the date!

There will be over 50 other wedding and event vendors there with me. Make sure to stop by Goodfellow Grove and say hello. I love that place!ย It’s actually the same spot that I shot the vintage vendor collaboration shoot.ย In fact, I will also have the table and chairs from that shoot, and probably even a photo booth. Just for something a little different. ๐Ÿ™‚

There are lots of other cool spots at the Botanic Gardens though, so if you come, you should definitely take some time to explore a bit and check out the other vendors! Two other vendors who participated in the collaboration shoot will also be there, so make sure to find Cameron Catering and Midnight Blossom!

This is a good time to mention a deal I have going on right now… If you work with me and one of my preferred vendors, I will give you an engagement session for free! See “deals” for more details!

Anyway, there will be lots to see and do… and eat! Don’t forget about the caterers! Yum!

Here is the official press release for the event:

A few people suggested a patriotic/ Americana/ 4th of July sort of theme for this month’s self-portrait. I started considering what to do for such a photo right away, as I always do for any that I consider as a possibility. I began imagining how fun it would be to make a picnic scene. Then, someone else suggested “life is a picnic” as a theme. That’s when it was settled for me; I had to do it! And, really, I felt almost obligated to, since Independence Day is on Monday.

After my vendor collaboration shoot, I was inspired by details, and I wanted to include a bunch in this scene. I already had the perfect blanket for a picnic, and what a background it was for some of those details! One such detail, and really the star of the show, was Dave’s apple pie! ย I knew he was capable of making a beautiful pie (from scratch!), and he was up for the task.

Dave was kind enough to transport me and my stuff to Woodland Park for the shoot. He also helped out by letting me focus on him, so that I could get into the same spot and be in focus (one of the major inconveniences of taking self-portraits). And, while it seems at first that this is a picnic for one, I had company at my pretend picnic towards the end.

While the final result of my actual self-portrait is pretty goofy (not to mention the ones of me and Dave), I thought I would include an even sillier one along with it. I really didn’t know what to do with myself in these shots, so what can I say?

I had such a blast with this shoot!!! And thanks, Dave, for a yummy and beautiful pie!

I’m so excited to reveal the results of a project I’ve been working on for some time! It started as a small idea with only a few people, but it expanded to become a collaborative effort with some very generous wedding vendors, both locally and nationally.

The idea was to make up a small scale scene, with a model as a bride. I found a couple of used dresses, a model, and a florist, but I decided that it would be much cooler with more people involved. Vendors sent things in from everywhere, I went to pick up several things, and a few people even showed up to help out! I ended up having so much stuff, that I needed to switch out items and backgrounds so that everything matched.

We managed to pull it off, highlighting each vendor at least a little bit. I intended to do much more, but the rain became an issue and shortened the time we could spend on each shot. I swear, Seattle is usually sunny by late June! I also had a problem with my preferred method of lighting, so we made do with alternative lighting options underneath the gloomy clouds. Despite all of the complications, I think the shoot went pretty well! I certainly am happy about a lot of the shots, and I hope that each vendor feels the same.

Be sure to see the list of contributing vendors below! They all have great stuff to offer! Our model Alexandra also did a fantastic job!

Anyway, on to a lot of photos!

Midnight Blossom provided the pretty bouquet. They also lent me the cool bird cage, which I sadly only got one shot of because we were running out of time.

Cameron Catering made the yummy chocolate treats possible. ย They also provided the small potted flowers seen in a few shots.

The UW Botanic Gardens was the gorgeous venue where the shoot took place. Good Fellow Grove is the specific spot in the gardens.

All on Location Hairstyling was responsible for the model’s hair and makeup.

Veils by Jules provided the cool hair accessories and veils.

Kate Hiccox, a Stella and Dot stylist, showed up to decorate the model with lots of fun jewelry.

Cakes by Look provided the gorgeous white cake.

BrainFry Concepts sent me the fun black and white invitations and matching paper goods.

Chic Ink also sent me some invitations and menu cards (the cute ones with the tree).

The Favour Shoppe provided the cute little espresso set favors.

Alexandra Flint was our fabulous model.

Thanks everyone for a job well done! ๐Ÿ™‚

I have taken some photos during my leisure time over the past few weeks, so I’m adding them all here.

The first ones are from the recent trip to Eastern WA. We stopped for lunch in Roslyn and I got a creepy building shot. I also included a few photos from an Aviary in Walla Walla.ย People seem to be liking the bird photos, so I thought I’d share those here.

Dave and I rented a canoe and rowed out to the Arboretum ย recently. So here are a few more bird shots for you, and even a few turtles! ๐Ÿ™‚

The Fremont Solstice Fair was another recent leisure activity that I documented, so I’ll lump those in here too.

I was so busy with a shoot today, I almost didn’t have time to post like I promised! Well, technically, I’m a couple of minutes late, but who’s checking?

Anyway, I don’t have much to say about baby Josi. Her pictures really tell you everything that I know about her. That she is sweet, patient, and freaking adorable! Her parents are pretty great too! I’ll just get on with the pictures. ๐Ÿ™‚
