This Ballard Locks engagement shoot was actually round two for Julie and Ben. Their first request was to do an engagement shoot at their favorite store (and mine), Archie McPhee. If you missed their first hilarious shoot, be sure to check it out here!

This time they wanted to stay closer to their Ballard home, so they chose the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, a location that they are quite fond of. They wanted to focus this shoot on the third member of their family, their Beagle, Addie Mae.

I love dogs, the Locks during that lovely early evening light, and Converse, so I definitely enjoyed spending more time with Julie and Ben at this shoot. I’m pretty sure they had fun too!

In an effort to combine my photography with more travel relevant subjects, I am introducing Seattle family vacation photography!

People want photos during a vacation, but often mom or dad are not in the photos, because they end up being the designated photographer. Or perhaps a couple is on their honeymoon, but they only end up taking selfies together. So, if you are visiting the Seattle area, I can be available to professionally document you and your family in a scenic Seattle location, while you enjoy some of the city’s best sites. Think candid, lifestyle moments with the family, along with a few great family vacation portraits.

How is this different from a normal portrait session? Well, I know all of the best locations in Seattle for  family vacation photography. I will be your casual tour guide as we see the sites together. I’ve been hired many times by people visiting Seattle on vacation who simply want to document their experience and their special time together. And, as always, it is important to hire a professional familiar with these locations to get the best quality and experience for your money.

I am SO excited to reveal my beautiful new blog dedicated to travel photography and landscape photography! Many of you know that landscapes and travel are my passions, but they don’t really have a good place on this site. I already sort of push the limits for doing so many kinds of people photography, but I don’t want to confuse people by posting landscape and travel photos here too.

So, without further ado, please visit my new blog: www.tracietravels.com . I will be taking a trip to Iceland and Norway next week, so I hope you’ll be able to follow my trip by subscribing to get updates. This is assuming that I can post updates from our mini van somewhere in the middle of Iceland. :/ To subscribe by email, you have to visit the blog section and look on the sidebar.

Here is an Instagram peak of the home page, but I hope you go and check it out for yourself!

Enjoy!!

    Mark Hopkins - FANTASTIC!!!ReplyCancel

I knew that I wanted to work with Julie and Ben as soon as I met them, but when they mentioned wanting their Seattle engagement shoot at Archie McPhee, I was even more excited that they had decided to hire me for their wedding. I love working with couples who are fun, chill, and willing to be a little silly, and Archie McPhee is the epitome of all of those things… not to mention one of my favorite places in all of Seattle. If you are unfamiliar with the store, this post should help you understand, but I still encourage you to check it out: http://archiemcpheeseattle.com/ . And while you’re looking, have a look at a photo from this shoot that they featured on their own blog: http://lesstalkmoremonkey.com/day/2014/01/11.

One cool thing about this engagement shoot (besides the obvious chicken heads), is that it is only part one for these guys. This silly shoot will be continued with a (likely) more serious and intimate shoot. So for now, enjoy some of these hilarious photos, with a few sweet ones snuck in.  This series of photos definitely captures the personalities of Ben and Julie well.

I was happy to head back to my old, familiar neighborhood for this Ballard Locks engagement photography shoot. I shot my very first engagement session there, and was glad to be back with my much more advanced skills and knowledge of the location. Ballard is important to this couple as it is for me, and I appreciated their wanting to have a shoot there. They were super fun to work with, full of humor and good vibes despite the chilly weather. They already have a wedding photographer who is coming from out of town, so I’m sad to say that I won’t be shooting their wedding. 🙁 But I’m glad I got the chance to work with them for their engagement session.
