Adventure explorer extraordinaire!

When “adventurous explorer” was suggested by a loyal follower, I was very happy to oblige. I had actually already thought of doing something very similar on my own. I just figured I would use this as an opportunity to do it sooner!

As many of you know, I’ve been somewhat obsessed with traveling for some time. Since I’ve not really had many opportunities to travel lately, I find myself craving it even more. So, this self-portrait is a true representation of how I would like to be. I would like to be more adventurous as well, but I didn’t have a hang-glider or bungee cord on hand to represent the more extreme sports in this photo.

A few friends were nice enough to contribute to this shoot. I borrowed some things from a few people, and I even managed to convince one friend to help me lug everything (photo equipment included) up to Discovery Park and act as an assistant. Thanks to Collin, Dave, and Sean!

I blame the nice weather last weekend for making me forget to do this project earlier. Had I done it then, I probably would have succeeded in meeting my own expectations for what I wanted this to look like. Unfortunately, the only time I had later this week was just before sunset after a full day of rain. At least there was no rain! Anyway, I might end of recreating this one later, so it’s a little closer to what I was imagining.

Let me know what you think. And don’t mention the fact that I have no boat! I have already thought of many possible scenarios for not having a boat. Or that the map is sideways… I read maps sideways all the time! 🙂
